 childhood1 Royal visitors in Schleswig-Holstein: Queen Silvia of Sweden visited a regatta in Lübeck Bay on Sunday. As patron of the World Childhood Foundation, Queen Silvia watched 63 boats sailing for a good purpose at “Charity Race”.
Schleswig-Holstein’s Prime Minister Peter Harry Carstensen personally welcomed the monarch at the sailing area in Neustadt. The Queen watched the race on board the schooner “Maranatha”.
In the evening, Silvia took part in a formal dinner at Hasselburg commodity. She had been invited as guest of honour. For this evening Sand World’s carvers had created a sand sculpture in Hasselburg, which is a venue of Schleswig Holstein’s music festival.
Founded in 1999, the Childhood Foundation helps poor children to get a good education and a better childhood. The most important aspect of 75 projects in 15 countries is protecting girls and young women against sexual violence and exploitation.
