Open day for visually handicapped
05.09.2005
Today – one day after the official closing - the sand sculpture festival opened at 10, in order to give blind and visually handicapped people the opportunity to “see” Sand World with their hands. Opening hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Some 250 blind and visually handicapped followed the invitation. But also other guests used the last chance to see and feel Sand World and to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of a sunny late summer day.

Many visually handicapped people  used our special audio guides. These guides were produced in cooperation with Schleswig-Holstein’s association for visually handicapped (Blinden und Sehbehindertenverein Schleswig Holstein e.V). Moreover, we offer a text information system called SCRABBLIXX. It provides information on several sculptures.

Next year we will offer an open day for visually handicapped guests too. Date: September, 4, 2006.
