The exciting journey through the circus world´s history
started already in mediaeval times with jugglers and their performing
dancing bears, acrobats who ran on a fitted rope to the steeple and
comedians who entertained their audience on markets and at Royal Courts
with prestidigitations and little legerdemains. In the 19th
century rambling menageries with “wild beasts” from farther countries
and continents were real spectator-magnets on funfairs in villages and
towns. Apart from wild beasts, even people were brought from foreign
countries to Europe and were exhibited in so-called “racial
exhibitions”. Abnormal curiosities as midgets, giants and hairy human
beings filled the purse with money. The entertaining history journey
continues with the “invention” of the classic circus, with its
breathtaking animal-dressage’s, funny clowns and daring acrobats up to
the realizations of new circus concepts- and dreams of today. Sand
World provides an exciting insight into history and the evolution of
the circus and presents international stars, coming from modern circus
arenas like Europe, China and the United States.
75
sand-sculptors – so-called “Carvers” – coming from all over the world
are building masterpieces out of 9.000 t sand, just with sand and
water, with heights up to twelve meters and are creating a fantastic
sculpture scenery on the Baltic Sea Beach of Travemünde, which is
singular in Germany. During the first three days after inauguration,
visitors have the unique opportunity to have a look at the sand artists
work while they are adding the final touch to their masterpieces by
using special sculpture sand. Because of its angular grain structure,
the sand is stackable in height and remains smooth and in perfect shape
for several weeks after “carving” and sand cutting.
Instructions
