Yesterday the Sand World carvers arrived in Travemünde. The international team of artists will take up its work on the area of the Sand World festival. 75 carvers are going to create several masterpieces under the motto “circus-clear the ring” Within two weeks the artists will use app. 9.000 tons of sand. The highest sculpture will be the clown with its 12 metres.
The first task of the carvers will be to create our magnet of sand world, the big elefant-pyramide, as well as the huge clown. The circus arena, a lady on a horse entering the stage and the orchestra are inviting the custumers.
The whole scenery is made of special sand for sculptures. It is characterized by its cubic structure which allows the artists to pile up the sand easily. Thus, the material remains in shape for several weeks.
The Sand World park opens daily from July, 7 until September, 3. Opening hours are Sunday through Thursday 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Friday through Saturday 10 a.m. -12 p.m. Prices for adults: € 6, 00 p.p.; Children aged 5 to 11: € 3, 00; All prices include the trip with the passenger ferry to Priwall peninsula (2 tours). |
