Travel through time with Sand World |

It has been decided! The motto of this year’s Sand World is “Time Travel“.
The festival will open its gates from July 6 until September 2 at Priwall Beach in Travemünde. More than 6,000 people voted in the online ballot of the local newspaper Lübecker Nachrichten. 57.3 per cent of the voters balloted for a travel through human history. Those who want to supply great ideas for the motto of “Time Travel” should send a postcard containing the idea to Lübecker Nachrichten, Lokalredaktion, keyword: “Sand World“, Dr.-Julius-Leber-Straße 9, 23552 Lübeck, Germany. Otherwise send an e-mail to redaktion.luebeck@ln-luebeck.de . Deadline is April 28, 2007.
The ten best ideas will be awarded with an invitation to Sand World’s VIP opening on July 5.
The ballot’s finishing is also the starting point for Sand World’s preparation that will now start intensely. First drafts are being drawn, the international team of carvers will be composed, and the special sand for the sculptures is being ordered. Beginning in June, the 10,000 sqm area at Priwall Beach will be traced out, surrounded by a fence, and finally covered with the so-called basis sand. After that, the sculpture sand will be delivered, placed on the spot planned for the sculptures, and – mixed with water - compacted in huge timberings. After the sand cubes have dried, the sculptors will start their artwork. Then, the fascinating landscape of sculptures will be growing day by day.
The sculpture park will be open July 6 – September 2, 2007 and can be visited daily 10.00 am. through 08.00 pm. Entrance fee will be € 7.00 p.p. for adults and € 4.00 p.p. for children aged 5 to 13 years.
