Congratulations! The 100.000th visitor of the 6th sand sculpture festival was welcomed at the Travemünde Priwall beach during the early evening on August 13. Together with the Tourism Manager of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck, Andrea Gastager, and the Project manager Jana Kürbis, Wolfgang Halbedel, senator of economic and social affairs, congratulated the excited “jubilarian” Katrin Eggen from Kisdorf near Bad Segeberg. He presented her with a gift certificate for a one-week stay in the vacation park Landal Travemünde for up to six people – donated by Landal GreenParks – and with the “Sand World-Starter package” including a T-Shirt, flip flops, the Making-off DVD, the Memory game, postcards, keychains, and the Sand World magazine. Katrin Eggen took advantage of the beautiful summer day and took her children – Jannik (9 years) and Lea Sophie (4) and the daughter of a friend Christina (10 years) on a day trip to the Baltic Sea side. “This is our first visit to the sand World” she explains happily regarding the unexpected welcome as the 100.000th visitor, “We have already heard and read a lot about the Sand World and wanted to see the sand sculptures with our own eyes today.” “Considering the rainy summer, 100.000 is good number“, commented Wolfgang Halbedel, senator of economic and social affairs in Lübeck on the interim result, „and if the weather plays its part, we will also manage the 150.000.” Andrea Gastager, Lübeck’s tourism manager displayed an optimistic attitude, too, “We are happy about the interest of the audience, which the Sand World experiences again this year and hope that many guests from the vacationing region of the Lübeck bay will come and visit the Sand World in the coming three weeks.” Until Sunday, September 2, the sculpture park will be open daily from 10.00 am until 8 pm. Admission fee for adults is €7,00 p.p., for children aged 5 to 14 years old € 4,00 p.p.. The admission fee includes the return trip with the Priwall passenger ferry (Nordermole dock).
